This page explains the privacy approach of the MsgPort website. It complements the privacy information provided with MsgPort: Text Message Export on the App Store.
The MsgPort app
The App Store privacy disclosure states that the developer does not collect data from the MsgPort app. MsgPort works with screenshots and screen recordings that you choose on your iPhone and does not require you to sign in to a messaging account.
Website analytics
To understand website usage and download conversions, this website processes your IP address, country, province or state, device category, operating system, browser category, the page pathname you visited, the attributed landing-page pathname, source channel, and whether you opened the iOS store link directly or from a desktop QR code. Pathnames exclude query parameters and page fragments. The website does not store raw user-agent strings, page content, form content, search content, personal account information, or a cross-site browsing history.
A page view is counted once per IP address, pathname, and Beijing calendar day. A download is counted once per IP address, platform, download method, and Beijing calendar day. Eligible records are stored in Cloudflare D1 and deleted after 30 days. Administrator traffic, local testing, verified bots, common search crawlers, link-preview services, and automated testing tools are excluded before database storage.
Free browser tools
When you choose screenshots in a free browser tool, the image files are read inside your browser and are not uploaded to MsgPort or Cloudflare. Quality measurement, overlap comparison, stitching, redaction, and long-image creation happen on your device. The screenshots, pixel measurements, redaction areas, and generated images are not added to website analytics or stored in the analytics database.
The free browser tools do not run OCR or extract message text. Message recognition and PDF, CSV, or TXT export are features of the MsgPort iPhone app, not the website tools.
App Store links
Store links pass through this website so a download category can be recorded before redirecting. When you continue to Apple’s App Store, Apple processes that visit under its own privacy terms. The MsgPort website does not receive your Apple ID, purchase details, or App Store account region.
Third-party messaging services
MsgPort is an independent utility. References to Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, and other services describe the source of screenshots a user may choose to import. Those services have their own privacy practices.
Changes
This notice may be updated when the website’s services or privacy practices change. Material changes will be described here.
